If you are looking for extra shelving, these stylish and useful, handmade, wooden shelves have the added bonus of a drop down hidden compartment underneath that is perfect to hide your valuables.  The shelf was designed to hold firearms but can be customized to hold anything you wish to keep hidden.

The shelves are made using pine wood, crown molding and decorative trim.  The drop down hidden compartment opens using a set of full overlay cabinet hinges and opens softly thanks to an extension damper.  The compartment is locked shut with a hidden magnetic lock.  A powerful magnet is included that can be attached to any item you wish to use as a disguised key. 
To open the compartment, simply place the magnetic key on top of the shelf in the proper location to activate the locking mechanism.  Push up slightly to disengage the lock.  If there is enough weight in the compartment it will now drop free once you release the compartment.  If lighter items are concealed within, a light tug downward will be required to open it.
The top of the shelf has wood support underneath that is secured to the wall to allow the drop down compartment to open without interference.  The hidden compartment measures 15.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches deep by 2.75 inches high.  A piece of polyethylene foam that measures 15.5 inches wide by 6.5 inches deep by 1.5 inches high is included and can be customized to hold a variety of items allowing for complete customization.  The entire shelf measures 24.5 inches wide, 11.25 inches deep and 4.25 inches high. * Please note, these shelves are designed to conceal firearms however they do not take the place of a safe, which is the safest place to store your firearms.  With that in mind, these shelves are a safer location than out in the open, in a nightstand, or in your sock drawer.
Each shelf is stained by hand with your choice of stain (see last image for stain options) and then a matte clear coat is applied for lasting protection.  The three shelves shown in the images are stained with Kona, Early American and American Walnut.
